Dancing Together
08.04.2026 — 18.04.2026
“Dancing Together” – A defiance against war and violence. A painting by the Iranian-Austrian artist Donya Aalipour that demands attention. Painted in bright, rich colors, with powerful and defiant lines. It depicts a couple embracing and dancing. The mullah regime forbids public dancing. Thus, Donya Aalipour speaks of encouragement, of the will to live, and of resistance against totalitarian rule. With delicate poetry, she condemns brutal violence. And she appeals, boldly and with impasto, to reaffirm one’s own strength, subtly conveyed through a rhinoceros. Resolutely moving forward, ready for battle. Vivid shades of blue dominate the background—colors of the sky, of freedom, and of cosmic connectedness.
Donya Aalipour, born in 1995 in Tehran. Exhibited very successfully in Iran until the start of the war. She left the country 10 years ago to escape the inhumane oppression of the mullah regime. She moved to Vienna, initially studying music at the Prayner Konservatorium and eventually painting under Daniel Richter at the Academy of Fine Arts. Aalipour acquired Austrian citizenship in the spring of 2024. She lives and works in Vienna.
