Maya Gelfman’s work is poetic, rich in symbols and allegories. She combines stark opposites with a beautiful lightness: fairy-tale fantasy and brutal reality, luck and threat, the beautiful and the grimacing. She wants to initiate mindfulness – mindfulness for ourselves, for our surroundings, for fellow human beings, mindfulness for the moment.
Maya Gelfman has made art for as long as she can remember. Today she belongs to the most important contemporary artists in Israel and enjoys wide international recognition. She paints on canvas, paper and walls, intervenes in public space – with street art and installations.
