    In 2017, Gelfman and her partner embarked on an am In 2017, Gelfman and her partner embarked on an ambitious performative experiment. They donated their possessions, moved to a foreign country and took an old van as their home. They invited strangers to dictate their route and next interactions, and they created public works that reflected those experiences. The “Serendipity Experiment” lasted 4 years across 100,000 km in the USA. The pandemic found them still on the road. Without a home-base to quarantine in, without the safety net of a family or income, the notion of “embracing uncertainty” took on an even deeper meaning. Having recently settled down again, Gelfman could finally go back to studio work.     📌We are happy to announce Maya Gelfman's upcomi 📌We are happy to announce Maya Gelfman's upcoming solo exhibition, "The Unimaginable Horizon," which will open on September 20 at 18:00. 💫In her new exhibition, Maya Gelfman explores deep psychological states through a series of non-objective paintings. These works can be seen as a form of cartography, maps to hidden places, to blocked paths, to new roads. Maya Gelfman (born 1978, Israel) is a multidisciplinary artist, working at the seam between painting, installation and street-art. A graduate of Shenkar College in 2006, she’s since had eight solo exhibitions. She has exhibited at: The Israel Museum in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Haifa Museum of Art, National Gallery in Bangkok, By of the People Festival in Washington D.C. (in collaboration with the Smithsonian and the National Cathedral), ArtRooms Art Fair in London, Art Basel Miami, Tama University of Art in Tokyo. It's tied to the thoughtless consumption of meat on a massive scale. Consumers don't realize how much they themselves are damaging the environment. Consuming a lot of cheap meat is seen as a natural and happy form of prosperity and well-being. Sulikowska herself worked in a meat factory for several years. She is burdened by the knowledge of how much factory farming - as a prerequisite for mass meat consumption - pollutes the environment. And how we, with the illusion of doing us good, harm our health. ------------------------ In diesem Gemälde geht es um eine Lebenshaltung. Festgemacht an gedankenlosem massenhaften Fleischverzehr. Wie sehr sie selbst damit die Umwelt schädigen, kommt Konsumenten nicht in den Sinn. Viel und billiges Fleisch zu verzehren, gilt ihnen als selbstverständlicher und froher Wohlstand. Sulikowska hat selbst einige Jahre in einer Fleischfabrik gearbeitet. Sie belastet die Kenntnis, wie sehr Massentierhaltung – als Voraussetzung für massenhaften Fleischkonsum – die Umwelt belastet.
